The Poetry Gabriola Spring Party, & The QR Anthology Launch Event Saturday, May 14, 6pm–9pm, At the HIVE.

It’s spring, and you’re invited... to a QR PARTY!! The Poetry Gabriola Society and its new board of directors would like to invite all of Poetry Gabriola's friends and family — artists, alumni, volunteers, and members — to join us for an informal get-together at the Hive. We want to celebrate 13 years of innovative art production, introduce the new board, and invite you to participate: Bring an ‘amuse bouche’ — a ‘mouth teaser’ (five square inches or less), or share a micro-performance (five minutes max).

You are also invited to help us launch the QR Anthology; a map of sited poetry. Choose an island location that inspires you and create a new work—poetry, spoken text, or sound— and send it to us. We place a tiny visual marker (known as a ‘QR code’— your ‘five square inches of fame’) on the site, and anyone with a smartphone will be able to listen, look and experience the work right there, as part of the ‘QR Anthology’—a permanent, web-based ‘geo-caching’ map created in partnership with the Gabriola Institute of Contemporary Art.

Amuse Bouche and Mingle: 6pm
Five Square Inches of Fame: Presentation and QR Poetry Launch: 6:30pm
Performances and Open Mic: 7pm - 9pm

It’s a free event, especially if you purchase or renew your PGS membership ($10).We look forward to seeing you at the HIVE!
